Japanese acupuncture

Japanese acupuncture is known for its gentle and refined approach, which sets it apart from other acupuncture styles. This form of traditional healing practice is based on the principles of traditional Chinese medicine, but has a greater focus on palpating the meridian pathways.  Any tension or blocks found along these pathways are relaxed and released, providing the body with an optimal basis to return to homeostasis. The tools and techniques are soothing and relaxing. It is a perfect choice for sensitive or needle-phobic patients, and is a beautiful therapy for children.

Neoclassical acupuncture

(NCA) is a contemporary approach to acupuncture that combines traditional principles with modern understanding of anatomy, physiology and physics. Outstanding results are achieved with often only 1 needle being required, with these being felt almost immediately. Feedback palpation is used to confirm the desired change within minutes.

This powerful approach applies intense needle sensation to reset the sensory triggers. Sometimes this is completely painless for the patient, however there may briefly be a concentrated, sharp, electric feeling as the neuromuscular reflex resets. NCA can be performed lying down or seated, with the patient fully dressed if loose clothing is worn. The practitioner palpates arms, legs, and abdomen to assess the pattern of asymmetry and selects 1-5 points to release the myo-fascial strain.

Chinese acupuncture

Chinese Acupuncture is a key feature of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM ) and is the basis for all acupuncture education and practise around the world today. It is a standardised international curriculum for teaching TCM and ensures quality of practise for registration and licensing trained professionals. Diagnosis is based on symptom classification, feeling the quality of the wrist pulse and observing the condition of the tongue. A point prescription is selected to work in combination for that diagnosis according to the text books, and then up to 20 needles are applied and stimulated in a specific way

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage is a therapeutic and hands-on form of massage therapy designed to address specific musculoskeletal issues, alleviate pain and stiffness, improve blood-flow and promote lymphatic drainage.

The practitioner uses various techniques such kneading muscles, trigger point pressure, rolling with pressure balls and myofascial stretching. Pressure is applied at the relevant level to patient comfortability, with some “good pain” being experienced. The patient is lying down or seated as required. If necessary, some clothing may be required to be removed, and modesty coverings are provided.

Medical acupuncture

Modern scientific research into acupuncture continues to provide evidence of the effects of individual acupuncture point stimulation. These medical acupuncture points are often included into point prescriptions within a TCM framework, or may be applied for their empirical effects on specific symptoms.

Horstmann Technique

The Horstmann Technique uses movement and passive stretching that helps to improve circulation, increases range of motion and freedom of movement and activity. It promotes healing and wellness by releasing these blockages and the trapped energy. The therapist holds a series of energy points on the patient’s body and helps to rotate the arm, leg or foot as required. The patient is lying down and fully clothed.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen life force energy (Ki) flows through us, and may become stuck or deficient from physical causes or from emotions, mind or spirit agitations. Reiki is a simple, natural and non-invasive method of moving Ki.

"The body is a self-healing organism, so it’s really about clearing things out of the way so the body can heal itself."
